How to Measure a TV
Determining the size of your TV is really quite simple once you understand what the manufacturers mean by, “a 60-inch”, or “75-inch”, and so on. Let’s dive into this mirky topic and clear it up for you.
Walking through the electronics aisle at any department store, you are sure to see a vast array of TV options. TVs ranging in size from 32” all the way up to 85” are quite common and easy to find. Deciding on the size of the TV for you depends on how far away the screen is from where you plan on sitting, and your personal preference of how large you like the picture to be. At Wildwood TV Lift Furniture our various options are designed to accommodate different sized TVs.
How to determine the size of a TV
A common question that we get asked is how to measure a TV. The answer is simple. All TVs are measured diagonally across the screen area. This means that when a TV is referred to as a 50” it is simply the diagonal measurement of the screen. Here is a quick reference of the actual overall dimensions of different sized TVs.
Size | Width | Height |
---|---|---|
32" | 27.9" | 15.7" |
40" | 34.9" | 19.6" |
43" | 37.5" | 21.1" |
50" | 43.6" | 24.5" |
55" | 47.9" | 27" |
60" | 52.3" | 29.4" |
65" | 56.7" | 31.9" |
What size of TV fits?
Another common question is “what size of TV fits in your products?”. The answer really depends on what it is you are interested in. Our different products and mechanisms can fit different sizes. Below is a breakdown of our products and what will fit.
TV Lift Beds
Standard Mechanism– Our standard mechanisms come automatically in all of our TV lift footboards. It can support TVs up to a 45” TV. Making it a great option for the occasional viewer where picture size isn’t very important to you.
Deluxe Mechanism– The Deluxe Mechanism can be added to any of our TV lift footboards. It holds up to a 50” TV making it the optimal choice for a TV bed if you are looking for a premium viewing experience. Nowadays a 50” TV is on the smaller size of the TV size scale, but with the TV right at the foot of the bed the picture is huge but still comfortable.
Swiveling Mechanism– The Swiveling mechanism can also be added to any TV lift Footboard. It supports a TV up to 50”, and can rotate 180 degrees in each direction giving 360 degrees of viewability. This is a great option for a room where you will want to watch TV both from bed, and elsewhere in the room.
TV Lift Cabinets
All the TV lift cabinets that we offer come automatically with the Deluxe mechanism, but they can also all have the Swiveling mechanism added if desired. The size of the cabinet is really what determines the size of TV that will work.
