Can’t you picture it? You just placed an order for a beautiful, real-wood TV lift bed from Wildwood TV Lift Furniture and all you are thinking about is how great your bedroom is going to be. Then, once the dust settles, you realize, “Wait a minute, did they just say they were shipping this from Utah? Now I have to figure out how the delivery and set up works?” and that’s when the fear sets in. But fear no more! We have taken care of absolutely every detail to ensure that your experience is great from start to finish. We have a combined hundreds of years of experience in the furniture industry, and we have learned how to get it right just about every time.
Today, let’s tackle what the packaging, shipping, and installation process look like for you, so that you know exactly what to expect once your TV bed arrives. That way, the only anxiety you’ll feel is when you’re watching a scary movie in your bed, and not from the logistics of getting your TV bed there. You can always learn more by visiting our shipping options page.
1: How is my TV Bed packaged?

We have shipped thousands of pieces of furniture across this great country, and we have gotten really good at packaging them in a way that prevents them from getting damaged in freight. First, we surround your bed in an inch of polystyrene foam, this helps to protect the real wood of your TV Bed. Next, we place it into a double-wall cardboard box and place it on a pallet. Once it’s on the pallet, we will strap it down with metal banding straps and then wrap the whole thing in many layers of shrink wrap. Each layer provides unique protection from the clumsy handling of freight carriers.
Each layer is pretty easy for you to unpackage, but the metal banding requires a little extra care. Once you have cut the shrink wrap off of the box, you can use one of two methods to remove the metal banding. Option one is to simply use a pair of tin snips. Good tin snips will cut through the banding almost as easily as a pair of scissors cut through a piece of heavy cardstock. If you don’t have tin snips, you can weaken and break the banding by simply bending it back and forth repeatedly until it breaks.
With the shrink wrap and the metal banding out of your way, you are free to open the boxes and start carrying your headboard and TV lift footboard into your home. But, before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s talk about what your shipping options are.
2: What are the shipping options?
Shipping is a two-step process, involving a national freight carrier and a final-mile agent. The freight carrier will pick your TV bed up from our production facility and then transport it to your general area where they will deliver it to a final-mile agent, who will then call you to schedule delivery. This way you get an affordable shipping rate while still having a team come and hand-deliver it to your home. Concerning the delivery of your bed, you have three levels of delivery service to select from. They are:
- Curbside Delivery:
This option is the most economical. If you select curbside delivery, the delivery company will remove your bed from their truck and leave it on the curb or your driveway (depending on your home). From there, you can un-package it and take it in piece-by-piece for setup. You will also be responsible for discarding all packaging materials and debris.
- Threshold Delivery:
Threshold delivery is like the goldilocks of our delivery options. It is a higher level of service without costing significantly more. It is typically $100 more to upgrade to threshold delivery and the main difference is that the final-mile agent will actually bring the package into the first accessible dry area of your home… which is freight-company-lingo for “garage” or “car port”. The benefit of threshold delivery is that it is closer and protected from any inclement weather. You will still be responsible for discarding your TV bed’s packaging materials.
- Premium White Glove Delivery:
This option is our premium option. On average, it costs $949 per pallet, but you’ll need to get a custom price quote to understand exactly what the cost will be. With premium white glove, the final-mile agent will actually unpackage your TV bed and any other furniture and carry it into the room of your choice, as long as that room is up no more than two flights of stairs. They will also remove all debris and packaging materials.
*Each of these options are eligible for discounts if we are currently running a shipping special.
3: Do I have to set up my TV bed myself?
Setting up a piece of mass-produced furniture is a thing of nightmares. Are you ready for a metric that is not based on facts? 85% of all marital fights occur while trying to set up furniture from IKEA*. We don’t want our customers to feel that way when they are setting up one of our TV lift beds. So, we ship our TV lift furniture pre-built, with as little in-home setup as possible. This means that you won’t have to “attach piece J5 to piece A17 using hardware M15 from blister pack 3” like you may have in the past.

When your TV bed ships, the headboard, TV lift footboard, and any nightstands you purchase are fully built. This means that all you must do is place the pieces where you would like them in your room, hook the side rails into place, and then secure the mechanism and hang the TV. Typically, the installation process for a standard TV bed only takes about 30 minutes.
If you purchase a captain’s bed with your TV bed, the installation process becomes slightly more complicated, requiring you to place the captain’s bed cabinets in place and then attaching them to the headboard and footboard, but the installation is still nothing to be concerned with.
We also provide very convenient TV bed setup videos for you to follow along when the time comes to set up your bed.
*This statistic is based upon personal experience, and not based on any facts :).
4: Do you deliver & install in my area?
For the vast majority of our customers, the answer is no. Being based out of Southern Utah gives us the ability to deliver and even install in very limited areas. These areas include Southern Utah, Southern Nevada, and Southern California. To check whether delivery and installation are available in your area, give us a call at 801-901-8249 and one of our helpful sales representatives will verify your zip code against our installation zone.
If you are not within that installation area, you are in great company! About 97% of the TV beds we build get shipped rather than delivered by our company. Because of this, we have created three delivery options (discussed above) to meet your needs and we have made the setup of your TV bed as easy as possible. In fact, when setting up your TV bed, you can simply follow along with one of our TV bed installation videos.
Shipping damage
Nobody bats 1,000. And even though we have become very good at shipping furniture, freight companies are not as careful with our products as we wish they would be. So, from time to time shipping damage does occur, and although it’s rare, it’s important for you to know what to do in case you are the 1 in 100.
The first thing for you to know is that you will never be on the hook for any shipping damages. We will work with the freight carrier to pay for any damages while simultaneously sending you the necessary replacement parts and pieces. Our customer service department will bend over backwards to ensure that you are happy with your products and make everything right.
One thing to remember is that we are on your team in these instances. We are not the bad guys! We are going to go to bat for you and get everything taken care of, so even though it’s frustrating, try not to stress too much as we handle the freight company for you.
If you are accepting delivery of your TV bed and you think that it may have been damaged in transit, don’t reject delivery. Instead, indicate on the paperwork that there are signs of damage and then sign for it. Then inspect things carefully while you unpackage your bed and if things are damaged, give us a call and we’ll begin assessing damages and making it right.
